. the coldest city across the bay area as per usual is gilroy at 26 degrees. temperatures are going to continue to fall. what i can tell you is there is a warmup on the way. close to 70 degrees. that's on your seven-day forecast. i'm going to show you when and how long warmer weather will last coming up. let's check your drive back to work monday. >> good morning. 26 in gilroy. my goodness. here's the san mateo bridge. traveling over the water, this bridge is just fine. 92 heading over to the peninsula. fine over the high-rise. over the hill let's look at the maps. 101 and 280 a smooth drive here. traditional overnight slower speeds because of a lighter flow of traffic. a few cars making that easy drive there. then we lose the sensors here. 92 at skyline, highway 35, reports of black ice across the eastbound lanes. that's coming over from half moon bay and joining up with 280. be careful if that is your commute. we are going to check that out and see how impact is. chp had an initial report of two lanes in one direction and one lane in westbound direction. slippery near the peak over the hill.

. three of the top coldest for the hours between 4:00 and 8:00 in the morning will be gilroy, 25. napa, 26. and livermore at 27. and as we saw, power out due to some trees that have come down. that's an impact of this cold weather. the long hours can weaken the root systems. you add on top of it, the wet november and december, when we had all of the rain and wind. and we may see more trees coming down. the most vulnerable spot would be the north bay. there's your freeze warning. hasn't changed over the past three days. critical spots will be the north, east and south bay. back with your forecast. and a bit of warming coming your way. you will be enjoying that. >>> san jose will soon have a police chief at least temporary one. the city needs a few more months to find a replacement for chris moore. until then, san jose deputy chief larry esquivel is the acting chief. esquivel started in 1984. for the past year, he was the bureau of field operations. moore leaves his post this friday. >>> this will be a pivotal 24 hours in oakland. the city council will decide whether to hire a high-profile p

to round up. i speak from the high end of the glass always full in my world. 39 in gilroy. 42 in sunnyvale. changes are just around the corner which is why i highly urge you to embrace the day. when temperatures are going to be mild. by tomorrow we drop off into low 50s. we bring in rain. very light. it will get cold around here. enjoy while it lasts. the one thing we have to deal with this morning is thick fog. that's starting to dense up in places like livermore down to three-quarters of a mile of visibility. a quarter of a mile from santa rosa through napa and down south to concord. in fairfield, you have pockets where you can see for hundreds of feet. my message to you this morning is give yourself extra time. even though your city is reporting a good visibility reading, ten miles or better, doesn't mean you won't encounter thick pockets on the way to work. we stop on future cast. between 6:00 and 10:00 all of the fog clears out of the bay area. lots of sunshine on tap. temperatures will reflect that sunshine. look at these numbers. 66 degrees in gilroy. 65 in livermore. 64 degrees tod

. and 26 in napa, 34 in fremont, and 33 in san jose, and our coldest spot is at gilroy at an estimated 25 degrees. now that 25 will be more than ten degrees below our average low, but here is some good news. it's not going to be the coldest morning ever in gilroy. that happened in 1963 when gilroy topped out at 18 degrees for a morning low. there's something to make you feel not so bad about weaking up with temperatures in the mid 20s. we will see san jose top out at 56, 54 in palo alto. and dublin, 51 and 53 in heyward. and san francisco 53, and 56 in santa rosa. on your three-day forecast. drew through thursday and then through the forecast, we have plenty of sunshine coming our way in the up coming weekend. it's not going to get warm or mild but temperatures will eventually bump up to the 60s here as we head throughout friday. so, definitely not a heat spell, but i think you will notice a difference as we head throughout friday's forecast. >> 60s seem boiling hot. >> i know, right? >> you can layout. thanks on much, jeff. >>> what started as a talk show joke could be the fastest growin

highway 101 between morgan hill, san martin down into gilroy and aside from that, we are dealing with the possibility of wraparound moisture coming our way. with all of this moisture lingering we have that patchy fog and livermore is what you are dealing with this morning rather than the rain. we will be slightly warmer than yesterday, upper 50s to lower 60s in the forecast, 51 in concord 51 san rafael, upper 40s in napa. not a bad start, very similar to how we started yesterday. into the afternoon, 63 for hayward, 63 san francisco, 61 mountain view and 60 napa and santa rosa and perhaps 'outside shower as well. we are looking at mainly clear conditions and there is another shot at some rain and it looks to be a dryer system but a cooler system. temperatures are in the upper 60s and partly cloudy skies and dry on monday. >>> one california school district has some parents very upset. >>> also why lance armstrong's best selling books are now the target of a class action lawsuit. >>> traffic looks good, we will tell you more about the morning commute and the wet roads. in gilroy. about as cold there. temperatures are cold enough to warrant some frost, however. we're not expecting much. a really dry atmosphere and high pressure will take control later on today bringing about a nice rebound to your daytime highs. temperatures climbing about to average or a little above so in some cases. 58 in santa cruz. excited about 58 degrees but it sure feels better than 48 degrees in full sunshine. that will be the case for today. lots of sun headed our way. want to walk you through your seven-day forecast. we do have changes. one more morning of frosty conditions. and it's not going to be as cold tomorrow because of the warmer day ahead. thursday into friday the 60s. mid 60s return saturday into sunday. the upper 60s. and then monday into tuesday, gets tricky. monday it looks like rain will start to move along the pacific coast headed down south toward the bay area from the pacific northwest. for us i don't think we'll see much activity if it doesn't arrive on time by tuesday we could hit 72, 73 degrees. however, if it does move in, it's going to keep your

into the santa cruz area, morgan hill gilroy showing scattered showers as well. the satellite loop over the last 12 hours is showing it is beginning to shift south, not out of the woods completely and it continues with wrap around moisture and it may be isolated showers and partly sunny skies. i want to back this up because this is the next system that will bring us the possibility of some rain into the weekend. widespread 50s in san francisco, low 50s in oakland and mid--- oakland and mid-to- upper 50s and very similar to how we woke up yesterday and slightly warmer in most cases. low 50s around the bay and for the lunch hour we are looking at mid-to-upper 50s to near 60 degrees and under partly sunny skies and again, the possibility of again sunny skies and parts for the peninsular. 63 in hayward, 59 in san rafael, and the extended forecast, drying out and dry on friday, but then the next system dropping out of the gulf of alaska not only some rain but cooler temperatures as well. overnight lows are slipping back to near 40 degrees and afternoon highs will be better as well as sunday. coming u

concord and fairfield. down by the monterey bay. and 31 gilroy with 54 in monterey. the stronger offshore winds allowing for the temperatures to stay up. we are a little warmer this morning in san francisco pushes cooler by 4 degrees in novato and two degrees cooler toward the east bay. we will begin to see subtle changes in the days ahead. no spare the air. looking at a little bit of patchy valley fog. the high surf advisory again today and then things are shifting in the atmosphere, allowing for although the mild days, a few more high clouds as we head toward tuesday. so with that high surf advisory right through the afternoon, we are washing watching the northwesterly swell up to 20 feet potentially. up to 7 feet monterey bay and 8 feet san francisco and half moon bay. double barrel high pressure allowing for the offshore flow and the strong ridge in the upper levels of the atmosphere pumping the storm track well to the north. this system will break down and as it does it will allow for the increasing clouds and a weak weather system by tuesday and into wednesday. between now and then
